Behind the Blog

I started this blog as a New Year’s resolution in 2013 to get back to the things that make me happy.  Writing, exploring the world, photography and sharing it with a worldwide community.

It has evolved as I’ve grown into it.   Nowadays, it’s equal parts personal and professional.  I’ve been running a color consulting business in North Carolina since 2008.  Opportunity to post and share must follow one rule on this blog:  it must be from my heart.  It has to reach me so much I want to share it with you.

All pictures are taken by me and my iPhone.  I’m a girl on the go.  Very little use of filters and all that stuff, but I do crop and lighten on occasion.

I hope you enjoy the posts.    This blog is dedicated to the spirit of my Gramma Audrey.   She was fearless, brutally honest and funny.

Here she is in 1942.

  1. Hi StephieLou, thank you so much for visiting my blog and for the follow. I like your about page, especially the background stripes. It’s nice sometimes not to know what you are going to get from reading someone’s blog posts, and your about page suggests a broad selection of topics so I am going to dive in and have a good read.

  2. StephieLou – Thanks for the follow on my blog. I came over her to check yours out and I will be following as well. Love the pop of color on your background – so cheery right from the beginning! Looking forward to hearing more from you.

  3. StephieLou!

Funny what a Google search will turn up. 🙂
I’ve enjoyed reading about what you’ve been doing….Glad to see that you and yours are doing well.

The fact you like a nice cup of tea and a comfy chair and you are an iphone phototographer makes you good people in my book.

  5. Crazy for color in all its forms and iterations. I recently saw the Global textile show at the Met in NYC and treated myself to a book about the color black in their bookshop. I barely glanced through it and learned a ton. Can’t wait to read it and learn more. Do you know Victoria Finlay’s book about color? I loved it.

    1. Glad to hear it. I wholeheartedly feel the same about color. Haven’t read Finlay’s book, but I’m on it. Just read Amanda Nisbett’s book, ” Dazzling Design.” They call her the “color whisperer. Thanks for the tip and all the feedback!
