Happy Mother’s Day

She was not The Giving Tree. Nobody took from her and she gave nothing.  This is what happens when I happen upon a tree in the woods.

My thoughts return to a favorite book:  The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein.  I’ll admit I used to think the tree in the book took her maternal sacrifices a bit too far (she was reduced to a stump). But even as a stump, she found happiness and the boy returned to her time and time again, if only to sit on her and feel her love.

Sometimes we Moms feel like stumps, but there’s nothing more powerful than giving and receiving love from our children.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there.  We live this story.

Happy Mother’s Day to my dear mother. You are my sunshine and I love you.

You never stop giving. ❤
