Duty and Happiness

“Happiness is the natural fruit of duty.” Mother Teresa (1910-1997)

It’s hard to argue with Mother Teresa.

However,  when I think of “duty”, I”m fairly certain my first thoughts are not directed toward “happiness”.  Duty requires commitment.  A dedication to do what must be done without consideration of personal preferences.

Yet Mother Teresa says it’s  happiness we reap when we show up and help out.   And I think she’s right.    There’s a lot of awful stuff going on in our world right now.  So I’m thinking we could all use some optimism, some understanding and collaboration.

There’s always room for more love.

Let’s play nice and help each other when we can.  A smile, a helping hand, a willingness to listen or share. Everyone can use more love.

It can be a game changer.
