Verdure

“To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment.”

-Jane Austen (1775-1817)

I’ve never seen the word “verdure” before, but I’m assuming nature has something to do with it, so I looked it up at dictionary.com.

verdure
[vur-jer] Spell Syllables
Examples Word Origin
noun
1.
greenness, especially of fresh, flourishing vegetation.
2.
green vegetation, especially grass or herbage.
3.
freshness in general; flourishing condition; vigor.

I could imagine three very different scenarios based upon these definitions.

Makes me like Jane even more.

The end of summer is near.  Go find your verdure.
